Scrapbooking Life

Image
Hello friends, Over the last few months, I have been busy with a personal project that I want to share with you. So I started scrapbooking in 2002..well, it wasn't really scrapbooking but it was some sort of memory keeping...because I didn't really understand what I was doing...and didn't have a clue about the products or process required for scrapbooking... But these humble beginnings set me off on a journey of discovery that I've found both rewarding and challenging...and in which a forever kind of love and passion were born... When my nephew was 16 years old, he lost both of his parents, so we adopted him.... In 2005 for his 21st burthday I presented him with my first ever "real" scrapbook album...filled with memories of his life and time with his parents... A gift that touched his heart and brought a tear to both of our eyes....  This was the start of a new tradition for my family...because my children also wanted one when they turned 21 and is something ...

Hello again, So it's been a while since I shared some of my creative spirit with you....but that doesn't mean that I haven't been creating... On the contrary, I've been doing all sorts of stuff...and learning new things in the process.... Today I share my take on CSI Case Challenge 222 ... The challenge was to create a scrapbook layout using the following image and prompts as inspiration... The Scheme: Used all 5 colours for the scheme...  Evidence: The  proof  is in the pudding... My evidence to solve this case includes: Floral patterns - I used the Tim Holtz poinsettias stencil and frantaged with shabby blue embossing enamel  Flowers Fabric Ribbon Snowflakes Jewels/pearls Testimony: For my journalling, I decided to use the writing format clue of the haiku idea....not only because I love poetry but also because it is a poetic form I've never been exposed to before....so it was a bit of a challenge for me... So haiku is Jap...

Moody Blue

Hi There,  So this post is a little bit late...but better late than never I suppose.... I recently joined Off the Rails Scrapbook group on Facebook and completed the first challenge... The challenge was to create a scrapbook page using the mood board below.... It was both exciting and scary..... Exciting because it was a new adventure for me and scary because the wonderful creations that others had posted set the bar quite high. Here's my take on the September mood board.... I haven't tried another challenge....a bit busy at the moment....but I cannot wait to start the next one...be sure to check them out! Thanks for stopping by.... Have a great day! Penny

TRN - Autumn Leaves

Image
Hi Everyone...  The other day as I walked home from the station, I was startled from my daydream by a leaf which fluttered down right in front of me....as if to remind me that autumn had arrived..... I noticed how the leaves had started to change their colour and i t made me think of the countless leaves of previous autumns that graced our footpath every day...and the frustration of keeping our garden clean.... To be honest, I do prefer the summer months......but there's something special about gazing into a  garden filled with the rich tones of autumn and a ground covered with dancing leaves...but then there's the dreadful clean up chores which nobody wants to do..... My three girls had the enviable task of sweeping up the leaves with their dad...and they loved every minute of it.....NOT.... This scrapbook layout shows Kelly in the throws of sweeping up the leaves....I chose this photo because I don't think she would have been impressed if I chose the on...

Cherished Smile

Image
Hi, Penny here just sharing some of my work for The Robin's Nest . My tradition is to create a scrapbook for each of my children for their 21st birthday. The scrapbook is filled with pictures and stories from their past 21 years which so far, has always brought a tear to their eye. My youngest daughter doesn't like photos of herself where she's smiling, she 'hates' her smile... s o there are very few photos of her smiling. Although she is only 18 at the moment, I decided to preserve this one for her scrapbook so that it doesn't go 'missing'. This layout combines her love of pink and all things girly with my love for black.  How it came to be: First I used the embossing paste through a diamond shaped stencil to add some texture to the page  I then splattered some spray mist over the page Next, I mat and layered the photo with black card and patterned paper Used white and teal tule as a backing for ...
